Review:

Tim: This is one of the those movies that does enough right to keep you interested, but not enough to be memorable. It exists in an odd space, evoking neither disappointment nor excitement. It is a decent movie, but a forgettable one. It was about what I expected. It is quite violent, fairly dramatic, but not very emotionally impactful.

Kevin Bacon is fairly good in the role. He's believable, whether suffering from grief, or bent on revenge. He's not great, but he does a good job in the role. Kelly Preston adds nothing to the film. John Goodman has far too small a role, but he is actually quite good. The cast as a whole is representative of the movie- decent, but not great at all.

There are some good scenes in the film. Kevin Bacon's running scene throughout the parking garage is just excellent. It is thrilling, suspenseful, and very, very nerveracking. I loved this scene. There is, of course, the big, action-packed final showdown gunfight. This is okay. At this point, we're starting to get a bit tired of the movie and welcome its conclusion.

I think my biggest complaint about Death Sentence is that it offers absolutely nothing new. The film is just recycled from many other films. It is somewhat interesting. There is enough action and violence to keep you focused, but the emotional impact is oddly absent. In many ways, this movie felt to me like a breeze on a summer day- it might bring you a momentary feeling of pleasure, but soon, it is gone, and you have nothing to show for it. As soon as it is gone, it is forgotten.
