Summary: The film is a fictional documentary about the after effects of the imagined death of President George Bush.

Review:

Tim: First off, in the vein of full disclosure, I should say that I don't hate President Bush as much as many people claim to. That being said, regardless of the subject of the fictionalized documentary, I feel like it is a disgusting act to imagine the death of someone, especially if that person is not very well liked in the first place. This film simply courted controversy for the sake of being controversial. I think this is a terrible action, and director Gabriel Range should be ashamed. The whole film is awful.

Now, trying to put my personal feelings aside, I found that Range has managed to creat perhaps the most boring documentary of all time. I was astounded at the sheer amount of boredom I experienced while watching this movie. I appreciate what-if documentaries, but my god, this movie was terrible. There are a number of interviews from a wide range of sources, but they all serve to only make the viewing experience more terrible. I understand Range was trying to make a statement here while neither condemning or glorifying President Bush, but what he gives us is a huge waste of our time.

Death of a President was an ambitious (if woefully misguided) effort. Range's film just doesn't work, and I hope I never have to sit through this snooze-fest ever again.
