Review:

Tim: This is an incredibly interesting science fiction film that probes deep into humanity and specifically, what makes us human. I love these not-quite-mainstream films that have more guts and courage than the normal, watered down mainstream fare. The plot here is fascinating, as one man searches to uncover a terrible truth about his reality. What he finds is quite disturbing.

Rufus Sewell surprised me by doing a very good job in the heroic, lead role. He so often plays a bad guy, but he is perfect for the role here. Kiefer Sutherland is decent in a pretty odd part. William Hurt is good in his supporting role. He is so valuable to have, as he immediately makes every cast better. Jennifer Connelly is surprisingly effective as well.

This film felt like a precursor to The Matrix, and if you liked that film, I strongly recommend this one. Dark City is more like a poor man's Matrix, but it is still worth seeing.

Dark City is a dark, edgy movie that oozes coolness and has cult classic written all over it. The cast is very good, and the movie will take you places where most films are afraid to go. I recommend this film, because too few movie goers see films like this.
