Review:

Tim: Obviously, I am a huge fan of Marvel movies. I was a big comicbook fan as a kid. Daredevil was never my favorite, probably because he didn't have the mass appeal that someone like Spiderman had. Daredevil killed people... he was from Hell's Kitchen in NYC. He grew up on the streets and was familiar with the violence that regularly occured there. I only mention this because the filmmakers followed this lead for the film. Thats great, but viewers need to realize that this is not another Spiderman or X-Men movie. Daredevil was a lot darker superhero. That being said, this movie also sucked in many ways.

I guess I shouldn't say it that bluntly. Some of this film is absolutely amazing... some of it is just awful. For example, the lead actor, Ben Affleck. Affleck is perfect for the part in some aspects and is awful for the part in others. He plays a great Matt Murdock, but he's also a little too pretty-boy for the part, too. Some of the dialogue in the film is great, some is painful to hear. One of my favorite lines is by the Kingpin. He asks, "How do you kill a man without fear?" Its one of the few good ones.

One example of an awful scene is Affleck and Garner's little playfight at the playground. This is really stupid. What a horrible and ridiculous idea that was. Let's have a blind man fight a woman while a whole bunch of little kids cheer them on. Its ridiculous and stupid.

Another awful aspect to the film is Colin Farrell. I have been a huge fan of his, even before he hit it big. I loved him in American Outlaws and knew he was something special. I had heard he was great in this movie. That was a crock. He majorly overplays his character. Bullseye could have been a really cool and exciting bad guy. He's just absurd in this film.

Now, don't get me all wrong because I'm knocking much of the film. I did enjoy much of it and still am excited they brought Daredevil to the big screen. Daredevil's "sight" is pretty amazing to behold. It's definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of superhero movies. The only shame is that it could have been much, much better.
