Review:

Tim: I've always been fascinated with supernatural films, especially ones involving demons or the devil. I'm not a weirdo or anything, I just think they make for interesting movies. So, this film is right up my alley. It has a few weaknesses- namely a ton of characters, some introduced so late in the movie that it can account for too much for some first time viewers. A subsequent look can help clarify the issues, though.

Keanu Reeves is good as John Constantine. Like Neo in The Matrix trilogy, this role fits him well, allowing him to channel his limited acting range into a very cool character. Reeves is best in these kind of films.

Rachel Weisz is good as well. She is always enjoyable, and gets some opportunities to showcase her talent.

The mythology about Constantine, Heaven, and Hell is all very fascinating. I think it is so interesting how God and the Devil made a bet for the souls of mankind. And, right in the middle of it all is Constantine- a man wanted by Hell and rejected by Heaven. He does God's work on earth- but only to try to buy his way into Heaven. Pay attention to this in the movie, because it translates into some terrific scenes.

Constantine is a very different movie that is a lot of fun, even if you might have to watch it twice to really follow it. Unusual films are often great to bring some variety into your viewing experience. This is a good way to start.
