Review:

Tim: This is a sequel that is nearly as good as the original. The humor is still fresh and funny and the plot is believable and engaging.

Billy Crystal is as quick witted and intelligently funny as ever. He makes for the ideal comedy hero. Daniel Stern is once again a good support for Crystal. He has the film's best line- "You were gonna suck on my ass!" I'm laughing just thinking about it.

I actually was disappointed that Jon Lovitz replaced Bruno Kirby. I like both actors, but Lovitz was too annoying and not very funny at all. Lovitz is usually pretty reliable, so it is strange I did not like him in this role. I also got very bored with Lovitz and his desire to be loved by his brother. It gets old very quickly.

Jack Palance does a good job playing his old character's twin brother. He is not bad in the role, but I liked him much better as Curly. There will be no Academy Award recognition this time around.

One of my favorite scenes is when Crystal dances, imitating the scene from Treasure of the Sierra Madre. I always rewind the film and watch it again.

The treasure hunt is pretty interesting. I enjoyed the characters following the different rock formations, and the hunt allowed for the same kind of movie as the original without being just a cheap revisit to it.

The funniest scenes in the film all involve some type of homoeroticism. Stern's "snakebite" scene, huddling together for warmth, and what was most funny- Duke's thoughts toward these events. This is all strange, but very, very funny.

City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold is a very good sequel, but not quite up to par with the original.
