Review:

Tim: This is a hilarious movie. Comedy westerns are not made nearly enough. Any comedy in Billy Crystal's hands is watchable, and this is no exception. City Slickers ranks near the top of Crystal's best comedies.

The film works so well because it is not only a comedy and a western, but because it asks some of the deeper questions of life. This involves men dealing with a midlife crisis, their own mortality, faithfulness, and friendship. Not every movie can claim to discuss all of this.

Crystal is hilarious as always in his fast paced speaking, joke cracking style. Daniel Stern is decent in his supporting role. Jack Palance steals the show in his small but excellent role. I was actually surprised he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He's good, but I wouldn't think such a small role would give him enough time to convince enough people in the Academy for him to win. Also, watch for a young Jake Gyllenhaal as Crystal's son.

City Slickers is a comedy classic. It is well worth your time to watch. You might just discover something about yourself along the way.
