Review:
Tim: Pitch Black was so good because it was a small, intelligent, entertaining film. This movie is a large, sweeping special effect-laden film. Instead of an action/science fiction/thriller, this movie is all about the action. That is primary focus of the film. It is disappointing that story and character development take a back seat to effects (even if they are pretty impressive).
Despite the film's flaws, Riddick is still an amazingly cool character. He has to rank as Diesel's best role (probably). Riddick is just so fun to watch. He is a cold, ruthless killer that may or may not have some heart and humanity deep within him.
The Chronicles of Riddick is exciting but pretty ridiculous. The plot isn't the greatest and much of the film is just silly. It is interesting to see the further tales of Riddick, bu the film is a failed attempt at a science fiction blockbuster. This will more than likely be the last adventure of Riddick, although the movie isn't a complete waste. It is a decent flm and at least will keep you entertained throughout. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Diesel as Riddick once more... but I hope it's more Pitch Black and less The Chronicles of Riddick.
