Review:

Tim: I really liked this movie. It paints a very, very bleak picture of the future, and in the middle of all this hopelessness- we find a small glimmer of hope. That is where the beauty of this film comes from.

Clive Owen is excellent in the role. I have been a big fan of his, and he gives another knockout performance here. He captures the hopelessness of humanity very well. He gives a great performance. Julianne Moore is good in a smaller role. Michael Caine is almost too over-the-top, but he manages to have several good scenes.

I have to mention some jaw-dropping shots. The movie is beautiful to look at, but there is one particular scene that is just amazing. It occurs at the end of the film, and the shot proceeds in seemingly a single take (not sure if they blended this together digitally or not). Regardless, it is amazing as you watch, expecting to see the shot broken, but it just continues on and on. This combat scene is remarkable.

Children of Men is an unforgettable film. I highly recommend it as it transports you to the near future when humanity has lost hope. Clive Owen helps to keep a small glimmer of hope alive- and that is amazing to see on screen.
