Review:
Tim: This is a typical action thriller with a slightly absurd plot and one-dimensional characters. The film offers a somewhat interesting plot- two people on the run, framed for something they didn't do. Director Andrew Davis didn't stray too far from his The Fugitive success. Instead of just a murder, our heroes are involved in some plot concerning espionage and a revolutionary energy breakthrough. Unfortunately, Keanu Reeves is no Harrison Ford, and this film is not The Fugitive.
Reeves is as dismal and boring as ever. He is able to do things his character shouldn't be able to do. He outsmarts everyone, escapes hordes of cops with ease, and takes on high level governmental forces. His character is... a marine? ex-special ops? No, he is a freaking machinist. Give me a break.
Rachel Weisz isn't much better. Neither she nor Reeves go through any character development at all.
Morgan Freeman is the highlight of the cast in a is-he-good or is-he-bad? role. He is the most enjoyable to watch.
Chain Reaction is ultimately too ridiculous to be very good. The entire movie is so implausible and unbelievable that it makes you want to shake your head, roll your eyes, and never watch it again.
