Review:

Tim: This is one of the all time classic comedy films. It still has a devoted population of fans that hail it as the funniest movie of all time. Honestly, I disagree with those people. I understand the place this movie holds in the popular culture, but when it comes down to it, besides a few performances, this film really isn't that funny.

The scene stealer and the best performance in the film is that of Rodney Dangerfield. He delivers one-liners with perfect comedic timing, and gives such a high energy and hilarious performance that you simply just have to marvel at him. Chevy Chase is decent, but not spectacular in a laid back quiet funny way. Billy Murray acts crazy perfectly, but he can tend to get a bit annoying and unfunny throughout the film.

The cast and their performances, though not perfect, do not necessarily take away from the film. Caddyshack's biggest failure is in the number of storylines that are ongoing throughout the film. There's the whole story of the teen trying to get money for college and his love life... but we really don't care. He's not that interesting. There are countless other smaller storylines that just detract from the main ones that we care about.

Caddyshack is an interesting movie to watch simply because it is a classic. I recommend seeing it for the sole reason that many people do love it. However, personally, I rarely laughed throughout the film, and to be honest, was a bit disappointed in this "classic" film.
