Review:

Tim: There are quite a few reasons why you should watch this movie. First, there is one of the all time great cinematic car chases here- the ten minute minute scene features no music, and is truly something to behold. Do a little research on this scene, particularly concerning the parts that McQueen himself took part in. The cars reached speedsof over 110 miles per hour.

Steve McQueen is so enjoyable to watch because he is so calm and cool as Bullitt. The character is directly opposite of fellow San Francisco detective Harry Callahan. When the comparison is made, Bullitt might seem a little underwhelming, but that is not necessarily true. Bullitt is a much more realistic cop, and his case here is believable and still pretty exciting. The supporting cast is pretty good, specificially Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bissett, and watch for Robert Duvall in an early role.

While there is a classic film that has become required viewing. This isn't the perfect film- it has its flaws and its slow moments. However, it has a number of strengths that far outweigh any other aspect. This is a solid film, and that is made apparent early and often throughout the film.

Bullitt might not be the best cop movie of all time, but it ranks fairly high on the list. This is obviously helped by a pretty incredible car chase, which is worth viewing multiple times. The entire film is necessary to see once, but this is not the type of film that you need to sit through over and over.
