Summary: The Brothers Grimm (Matt Damon, Heath Ledger) travel from village to village playing an elaborate con game of vanquishing "monsters." They soon find themselves in over their head when they come face-to-face with the real supernatural.

Review:

Tim: Monumental failures are always impressive to see in a staring-at-a-car-wreck kind of way. To be fair, this may not be a colossal failure, but it is extremely close. Don't be fooled, this is a silly, absolutely terrible movie that never should have seen the light of day.

The concept is decent, but the room for error was so small, that there was almost not chance this could have succeeded. I like the casting of Matt Damon and Heath Ledger as the Brothers Grimm, but they look ridiculous, have absurd dialogue to speak, and as a result, appear to be cheap caricatures of what they could be.

The CG is impressive for the limited budget the movie was given. Still, this is a cheap movie that very often looks cheap. This greatly hurts the the film, and adds to the disappointment in the movie. The special effects are so central to the movie's importance, and I would have liked to see a bit more money spent on these.

In addition to the lackluster performances of Damon and Ledger, you have the absolutely terrible performance of Peter Stormare. I don't understand why actors give these over-the-top performances that only make them look like complete buffoons. Monica Bellucci and Lena Headey give godo performances, but they are too small to be of any use to the film.

The Brothers Grimm is a disaster of a film, and you have to blame director Terry Gilliam as well as the studio behind this film. The movie suffered production delays, changes to the script, and a series of other setbacks, which all translates to an absolute mess on screen. This is a crappy film, and I'd advise you to not waste your time with this fiasco.
