Summary: A wealthy lawyer (Steve Martin) meets a woman he spoke to online... only to discover she's not a pretty blonde reporter as he thought, but a larger African-American convict (Queen Latifah). What starts out as an unfriendly relationship changes as the two find out they have more in common than might seem, and help each other with their lives.

Review:

Tim: I thought this movie looked absolutely ridiculous from the first trailer I saw of it. I couldn't believe anyone would want to see a film starring these two actors about the differences between black and white culture. I figured every old joke would be rehashed and it would be a painful experience. Much to my surprise, the film did very well at the box office. Figures.

I also wasn't excited about this movie because I can't stand Queen Latifah (what exactly is she queen of?? thats what I thought). And, Steve Martin, though funny once upon a time, hasn't been in years (anyone see Novocaine? Furthermore, I am so tired of the aged white guy learning life lessons from a troubled African American. Hasn't this card been played before? I haven't seen it in a while, but doesn't this sound like Bulworth? I suppose it reflects society in some way, but come on. I hope the next person that tries to use this for a movie sees their film absolutely bomb at the box office.

I guess, despite everything I had against it, it is somewhat of a decent film, if you like that kind of stuff. I don't, so I will rate it decently, but still hold out that I didn't like the movie. Nothing in the movie appealed to me. Furthermore, I hardly laughed at all.
