Review:

Tim: I really enjoyed this movie. I have always struggled a bit with the Bourne movies. They have all been fast-paced, good action movies. However, I never really felt blown away (especially with the original). This movie, the close out of the trilogy, keeps much of the same elements as the first two movies, but I believe tightens up the ship quite a bit. In my estimation, The Bourne Ultimatum is the best film in the trilogy. Now, I need to clarify that the difference in any of these movies is very close- especially between Ultimatum and Supremacy. I believe this movie is just a little bit better.

It is because of this franchise that my respect for Matt Damon has grown exponetially. I am amazed that he can play a silly, easy-to-dismiss role in the Ocean movies, and then turn around and be believable as an absolute weapon of destruction here. Damon has never looked more the part. He looks completely comfortable in the role now, and that makes a big difference. The cast has also grown and all give strong performances. Joan Allen has almost single-handedly improved this franchise, and she's never been better than she is in this film. I loved her in this movie. David Strathairn is a brilliant addition to the movie, and really brings a great deal to it. I was glad to see Julia Stiles finally had something of substance to do, and she doesn't disappoint.

Paul Greengrass has directed another amazing action movie. Some of the fight scenes in this film are astounding. I absolutely love when Bourne turns everyday objects into deadly weapons. My favorite has to be when he uses the book in one of the fights. The fight sequences are just amazing. The movie is incredibly fast-paced, and moves at a lightning quick pace. The script is terrific, giving Damon some excellent lines. My favorite is undoubtedly "I doubt that. If you were in your office, we'd be having this conversation face-to-face." There are a few of those lines in the movie that just make you smile and laugh, because they are so perfect.

The Bourne Ultimatum has done a terrific job of closing this trilogy out with the strongest outing yet. I have a feeling we may see more Jason Bourne in the future, and if the franchise continues its streak of improving with each film, I'll anxiously be awaiting the next film.
