Summary: Two Irish twin brothers (Sean Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus) believe God has chosen them special to rid the world of evil by murdering evil doers. As they set out on their murder spree, an FBI agent (Willem Defoe) begins tracking them down. However, as he gets closer, he begins to wonder if maybe they are actually doing something good.

Review:

Tim: I had heard from somebody (unfortunately, I do not remember who) that this was an excellent, excellent movie. Well, I was duped. This has nothing new or exciting or different from any other film. Its actually not very good at all.

The biggest name actor is Willem Defoe. He gives a strange, bizarre, and downright awful performance. His role as an FBI agent is one that I hope I can completely erase from my brain. He is way too over-the-top and makes the more even more cheesy than it originally had to be.

Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus give good performances as the twin brothers. They are somewhat likeable, which is important because they also happen to be murderers. They play this role convincingly.

The Boondock Saints is much more violent and gruesome than it needs to be. Profanity runs rampant, as does violence and death. It is somewhat interesting at first, but soon becomes a bore.

Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of this film is how it let the audience down. I admit I like the idea of watching a movie about two vigilante brothers believing they represent the scourge of God. The movie picks up momentum, making you think its going to amount to something incredible. Nope... it fizzes out right at the end, much to the chagrin of anyone who tried to get into the film. Sorry, but whoever said this was a good film needs to broaden their scope of film knowledge.
