Summary: An entrepreneurial college drop-out, Seth Davis (Giovanni Ribisi) gives up his personally run illegal casino to go to work as a stockbroker for a small firm. He soon gets caught up in the greedy business, where you can make millions- as long as you don't ask questions. However, as the money is pouring in, Seth begins to wonder how it is the company's stockbrokers can all become millions in such a short time. The truth threatens to destroy everything he has worked towards.

Review:

Tim: Boiler Room is very much a guy's film. Now, I'm not saying women wouldn't like it, because I know a number that do. All I'm saying is that you can practically smell the testosterone coming off this film.

The cast is brilliantly selected. Ribisi is a great actor and manages to hold his own against some other terrific actors. He is truly amazing in this film. Ben Affleck gives a small but charasmatic and enjoyable performance. He is not too bad to watch (in small doses, mind you). Vin Diesel is also great in a supporting performance. The rest of the cast all fits together nicely.

The plot itself doesn't matter as much here as does the crisp dialogue and the interaction between the various dynamic characters. That is where Boiler Room succeeds the most.

In addition, this film shows the exciting (and negative side) to being a stockbroker. The film is in some ways funny, because watching it, you see how their actions can ruin peoples' lives, but you can't help getting caught up in the glamor and excitement and want to be there, making the deals and the cash. That is where Boiler Room shines the best- in showing you the wonders of greed, and then asking you to make a choice. This film is entertaining and worth seeing.
