Summary: In a utopian future, everything is excellent. That is, until an evil man sends an evil robotic Bill and Ted into the past to kill the real Bill and Ted and ruin the future. Bill and Ted then must embark on a journey through the afterlife to save their girlfriends, themselves, and the future.
Review:
Tim: I'm going to go against the majority of critics and say that this film isn't better than the original. It is a pretty pointless and needless Hollywood sequel. That being said, it is actually decently entertaining. However, the novelty that made the original so great has worn off a bit. And, there isn't quite enough in this film to recuperate that loss.
One of the strengths of the original was the different time periods Bill and Ted travel to. Here, history was changed to metaphysical places like Heaven and Hell. This just isn't as entertaining. Hell is particularly boring. On a positive note, especially entertaining is the game challenge scene with Death. It is incredibly funny to watch. William Sadler is superb as Death. The evil robot Bill and Ted are funny at first, but quickly become annoying.
The absence of George Carlin (except for a few small scenes) hurts the film. I wish he had more screen time.
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey is at least decently entertaining and mildly amusing. If nothing else, it offers us another chance to party on!
