Review:
Tim: I can't remember the last time I cared so little for an otherwise well-made movie. This movie isn't in and of itself terrible. I just couldn't muster up any energy to care about the characters, the plot, or the movie at all. The film is completely forgettable, and only mildly entertaining. I was surprised that it received fairly decent reviews from critics.
The cast is almost all weak. Jason Statham is decent in the lead role, but really, any actor could have done equally or better in the role. The rest of the supporting cast all act as well as they can, but there are absolutely no standouts.
This film does just enough to keep the audience interested. I never felt the urge to turn the movie off, but I was waiting for the end almost from the beginning. There are some enjoyable moments- the scenes of building the tunnel are exciting, and the ambulance scenes offer some impressively suspenseful moments. The movie could have worked, but the cast drops the ball and that effects the rest of the movie. The movie really isn't much fun at all. In fact, the major emotion I experienced from start to end was boredom.
The Bank Job is a flawed, emotionless movie. It might be fairly well made, but that doesn't change the fact that it has no heart. The film has no staying power- it is forgettable and very often sleep-inducingly boring. I did not enjoy it very much at all.
