Summary: A bachelor (Chris O'Donnell) learns after his grandfather dies that he has been left $100 million. The catch- he must be married by his 30th birthday (which is tomorrow). After his girlfriend (Renee Zellweger), he searches desperately for a new wife, running down the list of his many ex-girlfriends.

Review:

Tim: This is a terrible movie. Usually I can be pretty forgiving, but this movie just stunk. There is so little to like here, while there is so much that will cause you to groan, cover your eyes, and stare in disbelief. The movie is just ridiculously silly.

I find that Chris O'Donnell is not nearly as annoying the older he gets. But this film, from 1999, features him in his young, cocky "prime." He smirks and looks so smug that I just want to punch him- not root for him. He's most not fun to watch at all. Renee Zellweger looked great through most of the movie. She has a few cringe-inducing moments thanks to the awful script, but for most of the movie, she maintains her dignity. The supporting cast was great, with Hal Holbrook, Sarah Silverman, Mariah Carey, and Brooke Shields all making fun appearances.

My biggest problem with the film is how utterly ridiculous most of the movie is. There are some scenes which are believable, but so much defies all rules of logic and sense that it ruins the movie. Watch for the bride stampede, and the film's absolutely stupid conclusion. It is purely moronic. "Let me have my day!"- please- this is just a terrible conclusion.

The Bachelor is just a silly romantic comedy. Unlike many similar films, however, it is memorable- memorable because of how awful much of the movie is. Yuck.
