Review:

Tim: This is one of the greatest journalist movies of all time (probably the greatest). It inspired a generation into the profession. How many movies can make that claim? This is one of the all time classics and one of the most important films of all time. It boldly shows how journalists, in pursuit of the truth, can do so much good and expose so much evil. The news media today is a sad misinterpretation of what journalists are supposed to be.

Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman are outstanding as Woodward and Bernstein. They are fascinating to watch as they navigate through lies, deceit, and non-denial denials as they search for the truth regarding the Watergate break-in. These are two brilliant actors, and watching them together on screen is just fantastic. This is the most enjoyable part of the film.

This is just such a well made movie. So many films have everything going for them- a great cast, excellent source material, etc., yet fumble on the implementation side. Such is not the case here. This is a brilliant, thrilling film, and is remarkably well made. Our attention is held throughout the entire movie. If I had to have a criticism about this movie, it would be that it ends too abruptly- as the credits start to roll, all you can think is that you want more, and this cannot possibly be the end.

All the President's Men is the gold standard for journalism movies. It is one of the all time classics, and is completely entertaining. This might be required viewing, but it is so fun, you won't mind at all.
