Review:

Tim: Alien 3 features the weaknest setting of the Alien movies- on a virtually abandoned correctional facility. The very idea is cheesy, as are the new characters and subplots. I understand the reasoning for using this setting, as it should be a creepy atmosphere, but it very really feels legitimate. To make matters worse, the film is clearly the weakest of the series.

Despite its flaws, Alien 3 is still pretty scary, but we've pretty much seen this all before- an alien hiding in the shadows, appearing suddenly to kill someone. The surviving humans obviously fight to kill it and die one by one around Ripley.

There is an interesting twist to the film that makes it different from the first two. This is the mainr eason for even bothering to watch the movie.

Sigourney Weaver is excellent as Ripley, but she always is. Charles S. Dutton is decent, but the film is missing a really good supporting actor. Lance Henriksen is just okay in a small role.

The ending is gutsy and a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. However, despite this, the film is the weakest entry thus far. Unless you love the series, you can forget about seeing this film.
