Review:

Tim: Ridley Scott directs a science fiction horror film unlike most in the genre- this one is actually terrifying. The sets and scenery are both stunning and frightening and add to the overall creepiness of the film. Scott does an excellent job with the camera, keeping the audience on its toes the entire time.

The film starts out normal enough, but doesn't get truly frightening until Ripley alone battles the alien near the end. This lopsided fight is one of the most intense ever filmed. This is Sigourney Weaver at her best- so incredibly scared, yet so strong and so willing to fight to survive. Ripley is a great character and Weaver plays her brilliantly. Our admiration of this character is what sets this film up as a classic and what spawned a number of sequels.

Alien is an intense, terrifying film with the perfect balance between science fiction and horror. This is the film that launched a half dozen sequels. It is an important film and should be seen by any true movie fan.
