Review:

Tim: I probably would have liked this movie a lot more had I seen the original film first. Other than that, I am not really sure what to say about this film. It moves quickly, and is surprisingly enjoyable.

William Powell and Myrna Loy are fantastic as a detective and his dedicated wife. Their interactions are the charismatic fuel that makes the film's engine go. They are absolutely entertaining to watch and their frequent back-and-forth banter is hilarious. The film depends squarely on us loving these two characters- and we do. Their relationship is one that all couples should strive towards.

The supporting cast is all excellent and contribute as much to the film as our two stars do. James Stewart fans will want to check this film out, because although his part is small, it is incredibly interesting.

The film also contains a pretty interesting mystery that builds as the film professes and the body count rises. There is a large and diverse cast, and any one of them could be the real menace behind everything. The movie does a very good job of keeping us guessing until the final revelation.

This is the second film in The Thin Man series, and while they all don't compare to the first two, they are all worth seeing. These are lighthearted films with a somewhat darker twist. You should be thoroughly entertained and marvel at how well movies were made back in the day. And, hey, for no other reason, it is good to check out Stewart in an early role.
