Summary: A master thief (Pierce Brosnan) retires with his partner (Salma Hayek) to a tropical island. He is pursued by an FBI Agent (Woody Harrelson) who has been trying to catch him for years. While the thieves proclaim they have retired, the agent isn't quite so sure.

Review:

Tim: This is a very odd movie. It is a caper film without much of a caper, a heist movie without much of a heist. It manages to be entertaining, even though it probably shouldn't be.

Pierce Brosnan still reeks of 007, and his character here obviously pales in comparison. He has his moments, but mostly gives an uninspired performance.

Woody Harrelson seemed to be the most dedicated and hardest working member of the cast. He attacks his role and has fun with it.

Salma Hayek doesn't have a lot to do besides stand around in bathing suits. She has more chemistry with Brosnan than you'd expect, however.

This film would be an utter failure if not for the strange friendship between thief Brosnan and FBI Agent Harrelson. This is a fascinating relationship to explore. It, however, suddenly becomes humorously homoerotic, only not quite. What starts with the suntan lotion scene and climaxes (forgive the wording) in the bed scene, is something I can barely describe. All I know is that is is very strange, and hilarious.

Fans of crime capers will be horribly disappointed in the "heist," if you can call it that. This is not Ocean's Eleven. However, a careful viewer can find some charm in unexpected places, and you just might enjoy yourself.
